I never thought would buy something I saw in an airline magazine!

Normally I sleep while flying. Recently, I had too much caffeine and started looking through the Southwest Airlines magazine. They had a list of indispensable items that are need for business travelers. One of them was a hand crank phone charger that I bought, then there were breath strips, which I already use and then there was the new Garmin Quest GPS. I already was in love with my GPS V (I travel constantly) and was uneasy about replacing it since it’s only been a year or so since it replaced my GPS III. The only issue I had with my GPS V was it could only hold 19 MB of maps which wasn’t enough to cover Southern California. I got online at my next stop and read the specs on the Quest and was amazed. I thought it was too good to be true but I ordered it anyway. I even paid for overnight shipping I was so excited. As soon as I got it I was pleased that it used the same software as my GPS V so I didn’t have to reload hundreds of custom waypoints. I had to go to Indiana on a trip the next week so I loaded all of Southern California and the entire state of Indiana and only used 58 of the 115 MB of memory available for maps. Some of the major includes improvements are:
Voice commands that tell you where to go (in a nice way)
Extremely fast recalculation if you drive off course
Maps load much faster due to the USB interface
The color screen that can be seen in any light
The screen changes color at night for improved visibility
All of the accessories to get you going are included.

In short, this is Star Trek technology for less than $500. A similarly equipped GPS I saw at a discount warehouse was going for $1200.
