Cool Daddy is One Cool Appliance

I received the Cool Daddy Cool-Touch Deep Fryer as a Christmas gift and it is fast becoming one of my favorite kitchen appliances. At first I was a little nervous, having never used a deep fryer before. After I got going, however, my comfort level immediately increased.

The design of the Cool Daddy is such that oil spatters and spills are minimized. Since I have children in the house, this appealed to me. Another benefit of the design is that cooking odors are reduced. My kids tend to complain if the house gets overly aroma'd during cooking, so it was nice to have that complaint factor gone.

The instruction booklet is well-written and easy to understand. Remembering previous appliances I have gotten and the horror of trying to understand their operation, I was quite pleased with the instructions for the Cool Daddy.

The book also contains a frying timetable that effectively takes the guesswork out of timing and amount of food that can be fried at one time. My favorite part, however, is probably the recipes in the back of the booklet. Having never used a deep fryer before, it was very helpful for me to have recipes right in the instruction manual.

Cooking food in this appliance is a snap. French fries are probably the item I will make most with it (as my children adore them) and they turn out wonderful every time. I did find that I did not have to cook them as long as the book said to, but that might be simply getting the right amount of food in the basket.

Operation of the Cool Daddy is a snap. It is very well-designed, and the frying basket does not have to be lowered into the oil until the lid is closed. This reduces the risk of burns and oil spatters, and I have not burned myself yet while using this appliance.

The frying pot is removable, which makes clean up a total snap. Simply strain the oil and store (after it is cooled) if you plan to keep it, take the removable pot out, and wash it in hot, soapy water. The appliance itself is sleek and looks nice even sitting on the counter.

I did notice that the lid of the Cool Daddy got hot, which somewhat surprised me. The rest of the appliance remained cool to the touch, however, increasing my confidence level of safety in the kitchen when using the appliance.

If you are looking for a gift for someone, consider the Cool Daddy even if they already have a different type of deep fryer. This is one appliance that will get a lot of use, and the fact that it is fun to use is an added bonus. My kids would like me to use it every night, and since they can be picky eaters I like things that get them interested. Plus, they were interested in learning how to use the fryer. More hands make lighter work!
