The Cigarette Machine That Really Works
Date of Review: Jun 27, 2009
The Bottom Line: great investment well worth the money and it pays for itself
Are you being hit hard by the recession that our country is in? Rolling your own cigarettes used to only be for poor people who could not afford to smoke other wise. Rolling has often been associated with being a tedious task that was a royal pain. Then you have the convenience factor of just stopping off at the local quick mart and being able to pick up a pack relatively cheap. Those days are long gone now though.
I can remember when cigarettes were less than a dollar a pack and now they around four or five dollars a pack. With unemployment rising and the prices of everything else going up except wages more and more smokers are finding it necessary to roll their own once again. Luckily now days they have more modern technology that makes that once tedious and agonizing task of rolling much simpler.
A pound of tobacco can roll about three cartons of cigarettes give or take a few of course. When you figure that a pound cost about forty dollars that is approximately fifteen dollars per carton compared to thirty or more for pre rolled.
Of course if your a bit more adventerous you will try to grow your own tobacco like me. It takes no more skill than a tomato plant but saves a bundle over a year. For menthol we just grow various mints and add them to the tobacco after it has cured.
I was in our local discount tobbacco store one day shortly before Christmas, when I spotted the Premier Supermatic Cigarette Making Machine. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try. Knowing I was growing my own tobacco this year, I thought this would be a great investment that would pay for itself in the long run.
For a Christmas present I bought a Premier Supermatic Cigarette Making Machine for my mom. She likes menthol filtered cigarettes and had a small zig zag machine but it was so difficult for her to roll and produce quality cigarettes using it.
My mom has arthritis in her hands and she often had trouble using the zig zag machine. I on the other hand have tendinitis which is annoying when it comes to using the zig zag roller. The Premier Supermatic Cigarette machine does not require you to pack the tobacco like the zig zag one did and it works by gently turning the handle on top of the machine.
With the zig zag machine you had to push hard to force it to move forwards to fill the cigarettes tubes that you place on the rod of the machine. It was easy to either overfill it or under fill it causing poor quality of cigarettes to be produced. I often ripped the papers in the process making a mess and this caused me to get frustrated.
With the Premier Supermatic there is no pressure required. You simply place the tobacco in the slot, turn the handle and the machine does all the work. The cigarettes come out more uniform and the papers don't tear like with the zig zag brand.
In fifteen minutes I could roll up enough cigarettes for two packs which normally took an hour or more with a zig zag roller. Then there is the fact that my wrist often hurt afterwards. The Premier Supermatic eliminated that pain and made my day more enjoyable.
The Premier Supermatic cost 34.99 which is a lot more expensive than 7.99 for a zig zag machine. However the ease of use and quality of product it delivers makes it worth while.
I also like the fact that the tobacco does not seem to fall out of the tubes when rolled with the Premier Supermatic verses the Zig Zag. Overall I have to admit it is a great product well worth the money. So if you have friends or family who just refuse to give up smoking in spite of its health risk, this might be for you.
