Product Review

Great for speeding crazily in town

by   shutupliz ,   Aug 9, 2003

Pros:  sporty exterior, comfy interior, wants to go FAST, surprisingly good sound on factory-installed system

Cons:  replaced starter, alternator, battery, muffler twice, tires...shook like crazy at over 75mph

The Bottom Line:  A FUN car...I used to say that, if I were filthy rich, I would just buy ten 1991 Grand Ams in different colors, rather than an expensive new car.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

The shape of the 1991s in particular sets them apart...so cute and unique...even with all the stuff that went to s**t toward the end of ownership, I loved my 12-yr-old Grand Am and was sad to trade it in. Soon it will be off to that parking lot in the sky... I had had it for four years and it was my first car. Was great for my around-town driving and the occasional long trip home after I went to college. Also, this car wants to go FAST, freeway or neighborhood. The maintenance, however, got to be too expensive for me and not worth the average trade-in value of $400-500. (BTW I got $1000 for it as a trade.) If you are patient and free with your cash, the upkeep is worth the joy of a little speedster like this.
