WORST BOX EVER.

Review: I've had 4 of these... they all are terrible. They crash all the time, don't record what they are supposed to, and are just overall terrible...

HOWEVER... it's the only HD recorder that you can have with the D*TV box... sooooo... it's this...

Tivo users prepare for disappointment

The Bottom Line: The HR20 is your only DVR option for full HD DirecTV programming. It's adequate, but suffers from poor usability and missing features (dual live buffer) available on older generation Tivos.
Review: This ain't no Tivo. I have two DirecTV Tivos and absolutely love them, so when I finally decided to upgrade to HD, I was expecting something similar. The HR20-700S is not even close.

Tivo and DirecTV parted ways after the HR10 series of HD...

to tivo or not to tivo

this hd dvr is no tivo

The Bottom Line: could not recommend right now, the quality is very much in doubt.
Review: we had been using directv for two years and had a tivo all this time, it was extremely easy to use, my wife was able to use it almost immediatly and she is no gadget expert. we had a great offer for an upgrade to hd from directv so we took it.
