This Ones A Keeper

After Quite a considerable amount of research on digital cameras. I had narrowed my choices down to the Canon Powershot a85, the Olympus d580, Pentax Optio30, and the Kodak dx7430.

Now first I wanted a camera that used regular alkaline batteries or at least could use them. The reasons were very simple. On vacations we camp quite a bit (saves money and the kids love it). Therefore we don't have many places to plug a charger in. Second is well I don't want an exclusive battery pack, they can be hard to find expensive and even become obsolete. Hey I still have my Kodak digital camera from 1999 and I really don't want to have to put it to rest because of battery issues. Third is even more important when you are out and taking pictures if the battery gets low you can stop in and pick some up some place to get you through.

All the cameras above have fast shutter speeds, which was a must also. This allows for action shots, etc. All three had quick load time so the next shot could be taken within quick order all three cameras are under 3 seconds. And all have a 3x optical zoom (I could care less about digital zoom its a gimmick). While I prefer a higher optical zoom for my price range 3x works. All three have decent flash for inside exposure. And last all three were within a decent price range.

So that means all of my needs were met by all three cameras. I would go into how doing your homework on a camera is important but if you are reading this review then you at least have an idea of its importance. By the way, use various sources. I digress.

Why choose the Pentax Optio 30?
It had everything I needed and at the best price by a name I trust. So far so good.
