Beware of discount prices!

The TC-26LX20 is a wonderful product. It can plug directly into standard cable or a variety of other sources and the picture quality is fantastic. The built in sound is a little weak by that is normal for consumer TV. I had it up and running withing 15 minutes. The operation is completely intuitive. I was especially impressed with the lack of glare on the screen. My installation is prone to this and this LCD has no appreciable glare.

Buying is another story. The numerous adds promising large discounts are a scam. Apparently these TV's are being sourced from outside the US and do not carry the normal 12/12 Panasonic Warranty. There is an upcharge to get the US warranty which can be extended to 3 years. I purchased my TV from FotoConnection for presumably $1885.00 with free shipping. In the end the price was $2099.00 with the 12/12 warranty and the "cleaning kit". The cleaning kit is worth about $5.00. I am at this point assuming that all this is legit and that I actually have the claimed warranty. This product is available from places like Circuit City for the $2099.00 price (see their web site) so I don't see the necessity to deal with dubious characters to buy the product. My suggestion is to go with the reputable source.
