Oreck Is worth the Cost

Like the previous reviewer, I bought my Oreck at a store location in Greenville, SC. I also went to the store on two separate ocassions. The first time I was sticker shocked that a vacuum could cost so much money and told the salesman I didn't know if I wanted to pay over $300 for a vacuum since I was living in a small apartment. On the 2nd trip, I was ready to buy (after my vacuum had exploded all over me). I had also carefully considered the fact that my mother was an avid Oreck user. She loved simply loved it. She also swore to the fact it was the ONLY vacuum that would pick up pet hair. She was right.
I picked the gray vacuum upright. It also came with the additional canister and cleaner, but I was not offered the other coupon for the iron. I also purchased additional bags at the store.
I think the main reason i'm happy with the Oreck is that I don't worry it will break or simply start spitting stuff up over me like my other cheaper vacuums did. If you think about, why buy 4 or 5 vacuums for $50 when you can buy one and never have to worry again. Also, you are producing much less environmental waste. I've also found that you can simply clean out and "re-use" the Oreck bags a few times before replacing. I think i've only replaced mine once. They are pretty durable. The canister is also really handy for vacuuming blinds,bathrooms and my car. It's got great suction power.
If you go to buy one, make sure you make them do the demonstrations. It's fun to watch and reminds me of those late night tv info-mercials. Only, this actually does what they claim. I mean, don't try to suck bolts up it or anything, but dog and cat hair is gone!
