Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver~Keeps My Legs & His Face Smooth
Date of Review: Nov 27, 2006
The Bottom Line: The Phillips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver gives your face a smooth shave and the woman in your life can achieve baby soft skin on her legs again.
For the past few years I have been trying to talk my other half into getting a new electric shaver. The one that he had for years was getting outdated and to buy a new blade was as much to just purchase a new shaver. So that is what we did. We bought a Norelco Electric Shaver and it was just too fancy for him. He just wanted a basic shaver, so that is what we finally found.
Target has some pretty great clearances that aren't advertised at the end caps of the beauty section. I always check them out to see if there is anything worth buying. On this particular day I saw a box for the Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver and it was on sale for $29.99 (normally retails for $39.99 at various stores like Target). My fiance agreed to give it a shot so we brought it home.
~The Packaging~
The Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver comes in a black cardboard box but is actually wrapped in hard plastic as well. I attempted to check it out further in the store and realized that I couldn't take it out if I wanted to. However I was able to see the actual electric shaver I was purchasing which is what truly mattered. I am sure this is done to deter any theft.
The claims on the packaging state that the shaver is "Ultra Close, Adjusts to Every Curve and Simply Rises Clean in Seconds." There are illustrations to show why these three features are so beneficial and an explanation of how they work.
There is a "FULL 2 year warranty" on the Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver that is noted and a "60 Day Money Back Guarantee." The actual model number is listed on top of the box in the bottom right hand corner as well as in front of the box on the bottom left hand corner.
When you open the plastic that the shaver is wrapped with scissors, you find the electric shaver itself with the plastic cover already over it, a cleaning brush, the charge, the instruction manual and the Registration Card.
Basically everything you need to get a satisfying close shave.
~The Basics~
Norelco has a patented "Reflex Action" system that has three individual floating heads which give "precision cutting." The cut tends to lift hair that is below the skin to cut closer while using the Stainless Steel blades.
There is a "pop-up trimmer" that can you use as well for grooming a goatee or short beard. There is no mystery on how to use it. You simply unclick it by pulling the lower chamber towards your hand. It works well once in use and gives a nice grooming on thick facial hair.
There is a plastic type lid that covers the blades when not in use. I would recommend using that feature if you have children around. However the pop-up trimmer would also be something to consider when it comes to small children or pets.
The floating heads make it easier to shave in odd places like your chin or for me, my ankles.
There is a hair collection chamber that is simple to clean out. You can easily lift the blades up and use the included brush to clean it out. Then just rinse it under some cool water and it is clean again.
There is a red light that shows up when the battery is running low and there is a green light to show when it is charging. When charging, the cord is pushed into the bottom of the shaver and it uses a regular adapter. If you travel internationally, it does not come with an additional adapter for those types of plugs.
You can replace the three razor heads with the HQ8 box. They are normally around $19.99 from what I have noticed.

~Our Experience~
This experience includes the shaving of my fiance's face, his head and my legs. The results were basically two out of three ain't bad.
The Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaveris extremely simple to use and even more comfortable than a regular hand razor that I normally use.
It is just under 6" in length and the base where you wrap your hand around is about 1 1/2". It has a rubberized grip on the right and left sides of the base in gray.
The razor is black with blue trim. It is definitely not the prettiest most modern looking model, but it does the job.
The on and off button has rubber over it and pushes in and out. It can't get any easier than that. You don't need to use a lot of force with it either.
As far as weight in your hands, it quite light. My hand has never been tired from using it.
The charge lasts about a week. You are supposed to let it go all the way down rather than charging it every day to help battery life. It is used on a daily basis so we are pleased with how long it has lasted before having to plug it in.
My fiance will go back and forth between an electric shaver occasionally and a regular razor. He shaves his head as well and was excited to try the Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver on it. I wasn't interested in using it at all initially. Then I noticed it.
The Change that was happening to my fiance's face. It was so smooth. I really couldn't believe how baby soft it felt. He said that it takes a few weeks according to the instructions for the blade system to settle in. In this case, it did and did well!
He tried to use the shaver on his head and it was a no go. It could never get close enough to his skin on his head like it had on his face. I thought it did a decent job, but he was not pleased. He gave up after a few weeks. So I wouldn't recommend this shaver to anyone that shaves their head for that use. Stick to the straight razor or "Head Blades."
As for me, well I got seduced when I started noticing a difference with my fiance's cheeks. I tried it out on my legs and I have loved the results. It works rapidly and almost noiselessly when you are using it. I usually use it in my bathroom before a shower but my fiance will walk around the house with it attached to his face. He really loves the cordless feature which most shavers are these days.
~Lasting Thoughts and Impressions~
Overall the Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver does an excellent job. It has a guarantee if you don't like it so there really isn't a huge risk involved. I felt that we got our money's worth and then some.
I wish it came with a base to hold it in but I realize I paid a very cheap price for an electric razor. My fiance said not to push the envelope too far as this was a perfect deal.
This would make a great gift for a loved one whether male or female. They do make female electric razors and I even purchased one. It didn't come close to what the Philips Norelco 7110X Electric Shaver can do.
I would keep this out of the reach of chewing puppies and little children. If you forgot for some reason, it isn't that hazardous. I still wouldn't say to do it though.
It is not chic in style if you are looking for that "image" in your bathroom. It won't fit in. There are other Norelco electric shavers that would though.
You get the real deal here and we are very pleased with the results. Why mess with a good thing and this is sure to make your skin soft again.
Thanks to Target for those clearance end caps.
And thanks to you for reading!
