Author's Review
I put 180,000 miles on my '94 Nissan Altima and decided it was time for a new car. I wanted a nice, fast, reliable, roomy, 4 door sedan with a manual transmission for under $35K. While the new Altima, the Cadillac CTS, the VW Passat, and Infinity G35 were all in the running, the Nissan Maxima SE 6 speed manual w/ all options except navigation was an easy choice.
Why?
1) 2003 Maxima has a beautiful classic body design, sweet headlights, excellent fit / finish, and is made in Japan.
2) Top speed is about 145 MPH, goes 0 to 60 in 6.2 secs.
3) Leading consumer magazine's most reliable family car.
4) Far more passenger room than BMW 5 Series.
5) 6 speed manual transmission is blast to drive.
6) Helical limited slip differential directs power to the wheel with most traction in slippery spots.
7) High quality leather interior.
8) Rear seats fold down.
9) My actual cost at Royal Nissan in Bloomington IN was under $28K before tax.
