Author's Review
I hated to say that up there in the title, "But the 64 is dead", but it's the sad truth. The Nintendo 64 gave me a good few years of gaming glory with games like Goldeneye, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Stadium 2, Banjo-Tooie, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, and Paper Mario. I don't remember what N64 games I was playing going into the 2001 year, but here are the top ten games that I referred to after games for the PS2, GC, and X-BOX were taking control of me.
There weren't any new excellent games on the N64 that had came out in the year 2001, and the best years of it were said to be between 1998 and 2000 when Pokemon Stadium 2, Majora's Mask, Ocarnia of Time, Banjo-Tooie, and other good games were brought to the system. What the 64 lacked in graphics, it made up in game play; what it lacked in any real RPGs, it made up by it's vast selection of Adventure/Platformer games, AKA Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Super Mario 64, etc.
Now that Nintendo's new system the "Game Cube" has been released, the Nintendo 64 has been marked as dead. However, I will always go back to play my old favorites that I couldn't play on any other system.
10. Banjo-Tooie
The sequel to the 1998 game of the year(I think), Banjo and friends were back and Gruntilda the witch is back from her entombment under a rock, and now Banjo and Kazooie are off to defeat her to avenge their dirt loving buddy, Bottles.
9. Goldeneye
The most best, most popular, funnest, greatest game that was ever made and it's extremely fun and addictive Multi-Player, and the system it's on is now dead. If only this title alone could save the poor Nintendo 64.
8. Wave Race
Now that the official sequel has been released on the Game Cube, the original wave race may not beat the sequel in graphics, but the game play was a whole lot more fun in the original than it was in Blue Storm.
7. Mario Kart 64
I loved Mario Kart and fancied playing it over the Diddy Kong racing, however each had their own ways of letting you have fun. I spent many a night playing 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 battles with my friends and another 3rd of my life racing and beating the entire game.
6. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask
The second Zelda game on the N64, was also a very disappointing Zelda in my eyes. The three day time constraint and lack of a variety of dungeons kept this from overiding the current king of the Zelda series, Legend of Zelda:Ocarnia of Time.
5. Super Mario 64
No Luigi in sight. Isn't that sad? I love Luigi, some say Super Mario 64 is still the best platformer on the 64 and I say it's the best platformer ever. Collect 120 stars from Bowser's clutches and save Princess Peach once again.
4. Super Smash Bros
I think it's the best multi-player on the N64, and the sequel Super Smash Bros Melee on the Game Cube has continued the legacy onto the next-generation system. Being able to pick a variety of Nintendo characters and beating the crap out of each other was real fun.
3. Banjo-Kazooie
There's a sequel that's out, why is this still better? Well because the sequel was good, but just didn't have the same feeling that it gave me when I played Banjo-Kazooie. This is the game that started the sequel, and this is also the game that left a lot of questions unanswered.
2. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
WHAT?! The great and mighty Ocarina of Time second best? Yep it's true, although OoT is a very good game, another game has had my love for a LONG time and is the one that I still play most often. The story? Stop Ganandorf and save Hyrule from evil.
And now my top game that I played the most in the year 2001....(duh duh duh)

-----. Star Fox 64
Sorry about that little, design. I was trying to make it look like a "1", I was close dontcha think? Well anyway, I never played Star Fox on the SNES, but I absolutely love the 64 version as it was fun, challenging, and overall a good game to play. Trying to visit every planet was fun and also challenging and even getting as many points as possible is fun.
Welp that's it. This is probably the last review of any Nintendo 64 item or game for a long time(except for my write-off, expect an N64 game for that), and the year 2001 was sort of a drag in games, but even though the better and more powerful Game Cube , the 64 provided hours and hours of good gaming(and some bad).
