Nikon D70

Date of Review: Apr 1, 2006

I have had this camera for about one year. It is almost perfect. It took some time to master the settings, but I wouldn't leave home without it. The Nikon D70 has been used for taking garden photos, hockey, soccer, basketball and people. The D70 is expensive, particularly if one buys a macro(micro) and telephoto lens, but it behaves well after mastering the many menus, most of which are not used after being set. For quick shots Auto works well, but for perfection I usually use shutter priority or aperture less often. Battery life is excellent even though I carry a spare. I use a cheap thermo picnic bag for carrying. It is insulated and padded, and the perfect size for my three lenses. Often I shoot four of five pictures at slightly different settings, always striving for the perfect picture. It has replaced my film camera completely.

Pros
Perfect for the semi-professional or discriminating amateur photographer.
Cons
Would like the ISO setting to appear in the lens viewer, but not too important.
