good camera, few flaws

Date of Review: Jan 13, 2003

The Bottom Line:  I've tried both D60, and D100, and both are excellent. If you have nikon glass, go with D100
for specs, and a thorough review of the camera, go to-
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond100

My main gripe (as with most other owners) is that the photos just aren't sharp in jpeg mode. The solution is to shoot in RAW mode, but you get huge files, and the camera will only buffer 4 shots in this mode. That amounts to a lot of waiting around for the image to write to disk.

However, I've been able to open RAW files directly in Photoshop (v.5.5, Windows XP) without installing any software, which is a bonus. I don't know why others haven't been successful.

All in all, good camera, and if they can solve the sharpness issue, just about perfect for a pro-sumer.
