The CD that opened the door
Date of Review: Dec 7, 1999
Nevermind. One of the most successfull CD's ever. It is perfectly understandable why. The big hit that started Nirvana's successful ride to the top: Smells Like Teen Spirit starts off the CD. After that the CD keeps on going. How can you go wrong with these songs? Great melodies, great vocals, the drumming is superior to that of "Bleach" and the songs seem to flow much better. Other recommended songs are, or course, "Come as you are", "Litium", "Something in the way", and "In Bloom". I could continue on and list the rest of the songs on the CD - the whole thing is that good. Kurt certainly gave us a great CD, although the major complaint is true: it is too cleaned up. To commercial/studio. That is my one major complaint - but it doesn't really take anything away from the CD. Only harcore, experienced Nirvana/grunge fans will even notice. This CD is definitly recommended to all people who want to get aquainted to Nirvana. I say that if you don't already have it "Why not?". A MUST HAVE in every music fan's collection. My personal fav. on this CD is "Something in the Way". The vocals are great..in a haunting way, and it just puts you in the mood you know Kurt was aiming for. He is the Master. NIRVANA LIVES.
