Don't buy a Vent a hood
Date of Review: Aug 5, 2005
The Bottom Line: Stay away from Vent a Hood. They are a poor company to deal with.
I have dealt with VAH regarding a custom hood. They cost me time and money because of several reasons.
The inability to obtain installation plans prior to the hood arriving. They absolutely refused all requests! Once the hood arrived the instructions were almost useless. It took several phone calls to find someone that could interpret the generic installation drawing. Their own company engineer stated that he has tried for over 10 years to get them to supply better instructions with no luck.
They sent transitions that would not even physically fit in the hood. How can you not know how your own hood is made?
They refused to step up to the plate and take care of the extra costs for installation that were caused by their lack of attention to details, poor instructions, and for sending the wrong parts required for the installation.
The vent flaps make loud clanging noises ever time the wind blows. Their solution was to tell me to tape nickles to the flaps. Finally, after I refused this cheesy solution, their rep came and apparently did just that and now it only clangs during higher winds and breezes. When it does make that noise it is enough to keep the entire household awake.
I have now had one of the fans fail and a new one is on the way.. that was painless.
Every problem associated with the installation of this hood was blamed by the rep on everyone else but VAH when it was clearly caused by them.
