Mustek MP72 7 in. Portable DVD Player

This cost $69 Cdn or $55 US so a good price

Pros:
smooth laser reader.
can play almost anything including Dvix & VCD
reads disc fast unlike other players
has progressive scan
good reviews per the internet.
Ok picture quality - but not the best. Lacks sharpness

Cons:
Sound sound sound - worst than avg portable which is bad
Like tin can sound and low volume even at max
(but ok with headphones)
No menu/fwd/rev buttons on unit- must rely on remote
Very clunky and big & thick & hollow
Poor JPEG playback

For the price for a kid - good player.

I've also tried a few other similar models - Axion 7" (very bad and made tons of noise. Couldn't read discs easily). Insignia 7". Very nice and better machine but it was $99 so a bit more. Reliability still questionable so don't know if it's worth paying the extra $. Also bought a 9" Insignia at a great deal for $99. This I kept as it was a good deal for the size & features.

Hope this helps. I still have a better feel on the Mustek brand/quality over others like Insignia, Axion, Audiovox.
