Product Review

Love the look...

by   wwbrown1088 ,   Dec 23, 2006

Pros:  Looks, separate silverware rack, glassware and dishes are spotless!

Cons:  Somewhat noisier than you might expect; a push button power switch.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

This dishwasher looks great. It is, however, a bit noisy given the price tag. We replaced an 1980's GE that could be heard outside on the patio with the door shut! The Miele Optima is much quieter, except for an obvious "moan" at the start of some cycles. Once operational, the noise reduces to that of water swishing around in the system. Not too bad, but I believe we have heard quieter.

We live in a townhome with an open design so minimal noise coming from the kitchen is very important.

Another surprise was that you have to remember to turn the dishwasher off when it is done. It does not turn off automatically. This is a minor inconvenience, but don't start a wash prior to leaving for an extended vacation.

UPDATE: March 17, 2007

Our Miele has a drying fan that starts 20 minutes before the end of a wash, and continues for 30 minutes after the wash is complete. The fan emits a high pitched "whine" that is too loud. Be sure and have your dealer demonstate this fan and its volume before purchasing this machine.
