Author's Review

After much research,I decided on this one.Midland is an established manufacturer of CB and two way radios-I once owned a hand held CB radio from them, which was very durable. The other trusted name in two way radios is Motorola, however, the name alone raises the price.I got these(pair)at a Eckerd Drug in DE(no sales tax)on sale for$57.I also applied for a JC Penney charge card at the store which knocked off a further 15%.Finally,I downloaded a manufacturer's rebate from the Midland website($10).The bottom line:less than $40 for the pair.
The design is simple and the unit is easy to use.The features it has are found on units costing much more. The maximum range in realistic conditions,I've found ,is one mile.Unfortunately,no holster/protective covering is offered by Midland-an option I consider vital in maintaining the life of the unit.I wish the units would stand a little steadier when placed on a flat surface-they tend to wobble.Perhaps sanding/abrading the bottom would improve their stance.
Why buy motorola when you can get the same quality and features for less?
