He Made Ireland.

Michael Collins is about the man who is largely responsible for Irish independence.This is a fantastic movie and it mystifies me why it didn't get more notice at the box office and in the Oscars.The acting is superb,especially Liam Neeson's towering performance as Collins.This film,for me is reminiscent of Braveheart.People who loved that should love this.I can forgive the minor liberties it takes with history.Great script and direction by Neil Jordan and a superb score by Elliot Goldenthal.This film was of particular interest to me because I am of 100% pure Iris heritage(in fact my Mom was born there).My paternal grandfather served in the IRA in County Cork during the period depicted in this film.I have no idea whether he had any sort of contact with Collins,but,thanks to Neil Jordan I feel I have made contact with the times and events that at least affected his life.
