I play better at this than real basketball
Date of Review: Feb 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: It's right on the final paragraph
Since I saw this in the store I just had to have it because I really can't play real basketball. So what's a better way than to play it electronicly, but with a (Super) twist. You have powerups and special moves. I at first had trouble playing this but then I found a practice in the challenge section.
There are a lot of levels and characters. Some characters you have to beat levels to get new characters. There are even 5 final fantasy characters.
Some levels (3) however have to be unlocked in order to use them. These cheats can be found at any cheat website.
For the controls you mainly or almost always have to use the touch screen. To move you use the D-pad or ABYX buttons depending on what hand you use. The left and right buttons are also used for direct passes.
The basics are:
Defencive - Stroke down to steal, stroke up to jump, and holding the stylus down you block.
Offensive - Tap the screen to dribble, stroke up to shoot, and hold L or R and stroke in the way you want to direct pass.
This game also has multiplayer, but to play an exhibition you need two games of Mario Hoops 3 on 3. The multiplayer can also play single player. These games include: Exhibition and Dribble race. The one game only multiplayer is Coin Hunter.
This game has great graphics and excellent music. You have your own profile and can make friends. You can change basketballs and have a call out. I think call out means another player can play temperarily in the middle of a tourney (the main part of the game), but I think you can only do it when you have two games.
Update: The call out is to cut in the middle of the game and challenge other players.
I hope you like this game dispite not being able to go on the net. It is a great game!
