Easy and Fun Updated

Date of Review:  Sep 21, 2005
The Bottom Line: I would definitely buy the RM700 again (actually I would upgrade to the Roadmate 760 today). It has served me well on many trips in both Europe and the USA.
Review: I am an American, but I live in Germany and frequently go to other European countries. I bought a Road Mate 700 from Media Markt (Germany) because Magellan finally added the inherent capability to retain both US and European maps in one unit (Garmin...

Lousy support and faulty upgrades

Date of Review:  May 27, 2006
The Bottom Line: Get a subscription to AAA and use their Triptiks and maps.
Review: It's the 2nd time that I upgrade this RoadMate 700. This time again, I have to return the GPS to Thales Nav to get fixed because of major flaws on that upgrade. First, they should fire the programmer who decided to put the serial number as a...

Not worth the price, few features

Date of Review:  May 26, 2004
The Bottom Line: Not nearly worth the price.
Review: The RoadMate 700 is by no means worth its price. A device this expensive should have an excellent user interface with many features, making it easy to get any information you want and to use that information.

There is no way to specify...

3 year user.... there are many limitations

Date of Review:  Dec 9, 2005
The Bottom Line: Find another vendor for a GPS. The product is just okay but the awful company attitude is unacceptable. Buyer beware you are forewarned.
Review: pros. The system works. It's easy to use. Do not believe all the hype about this product. I own one and it is limited

cons. Thales Navigation is easily the worst company in North America with regards to support or service. They absolutely...

Magellan 700 Takes Technophobe to New Horizons

Date of Review:  Dec 8, 2005
The Bottom Line: Superb product--recommended for anyone who is navigationally challenged.
Review: I will admit to being the world's worst navigator. I have been known to get lost going to an unfamiliar place even a few miles from my home, if unaccompanied. In addition, I am technologically "challenged," to say the least, and I routinely ask my...

Best thing since the printed map

Date of Review:  Apr 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you travel for a living like I do this product is a must. The days of printing maps from Streets and Trips or Mapquest are over.
Review: Over the last two years I have rented Hertz cars because of the Never Lost system they offer. Magellan finally came out with the Roadmate 700 which works exactly like the Hertz Never Lost unit. I can't say enough about the Roadmate 700.The ease of...

What a disappointment!

Date of Review:  May 28, 2005
The Bottom Line: No.
Review: Memorial Day weekend. Our big family outing. The morning of our road trip I decided to finally splurge and lay down the cash for the Magellan RoadMate 700. I'd read such good things about it, and having recently used (and liked)a similar Magellan...

Read this before you buy!

Date of Review:  Jun 12, 2005
The Bottom Line: Bad news. A product that doesn't work as intended except for freeway work. A $20 map works better.
Review: How do you spell junk? Here are the real pros and cons of this unit.

On the plus side, it has pretty maps which show you the destination you input in the unit.

It is easy to use, however you can only input addresses by tapping...

The Magellan 700 has several serious drawbacks

Date of Review:  Jul 6, 2005
The Bottom Line: I would never recommend the Magellan 700 under any condition. It repeatedly failed to take me to my destination. Several features don't work.
Review: I bought the 700 to help me find my way to nearby medium sized cities, and also to go on trips in the 200-800 mile range. I chose the 700 primarily because it had more features than competing brands in the same price range.

I liked the...

GPS unit stalled after a month and never moved from that place again

Date of Review:  Feb 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: Do not ever buy Refurbished and of the top of all, do not get into Magellan GPS systems. Never buy Magellan products.
Review: I got this GPS refurbished and thought that it will work good. It did work good for about a month and then problem started coming up. Sometimes, the GPS will take 30 mins to decide its position and more than half the time, I had to restart the GPS...
