Author's Review

It's been awhile since we've heard that trademark angst ridden voice ripping through the roar of guitars and God does it feel wonderful.

Though I feel Adore was just as good as any of their other albums it seemed detached and mellow, it left you craving their old style, leaving you a little frustrated with the band.

With Machina They both go back to and move past their old style adding an edge to the music unaccessible in Adore. Instead of having very mellow and very heavy songs on the album, they combine the two feelings, giving angst to melody and reason to the angrier punk undertoned songs.

Overall it has the feel of a darker Siamese Dream, not so big on the previous feedback it relies on Chamberlain's beat and Corgan's angry soprano to bring the music across. For fans Of Mellon Collie it has all the moody lyrics and loud guitar, for those who are fans of Smashing Pumpkins as a whole rather than just Mellon Collie it is a heady fix of that wonderful Pumpkins spirit.
