Pros: Small size. Excellent range. Durable(dropped once and still works fine!)

Cons: can't think of any yet

The Bottom Line: Great product. Inexpensive. Excellent range. Still working perfectly after dropping on tile floor.

I've had the D-link 624 for about 8 months now, and I can't be happier. I'm surprised to read that so many people have problems with it.

Set-up:

As easy as it can get. Almost like plug-and-play. The online router set-up and a one-touch Wizard works well.

Setting up WPA-PSK or WEP security are also quite easy (if you have an old laptop or an old wireless card, it may not support the newer WPA-PSK. You'd have to go with WEP). And setting MAC filtering (next step of advanced security) is also very straight forward -- did not need to use intruction manual at all.

D-link's online router set-up menu's are very easy to nagivate, imo. Netgear's is not as user-friendly (I helped setting up my father-in-law's netgear router).

Range:

Much, much better than the D-link 514 which I upgraded from. I get 4 bars with the built-in wireless card on my laptop downstairs in kitchen. The router is uptairs in office on other side of the house. When I use the D-link 108 Mpbs wireless card, I get perfect 5 bars and full 108 speed. Nice

Firmware Upgrade:

Upgraded firmware 3 times - no problems at all. Just followed instructions on dlink website. Oh yeah...I upgraded not because there was a problem, but just because I wanted the "latest" firmware. I know, it's silly and risky. Not usually a recommended practice if your router is working fine....but I just like to tinker my computer a lot...
