Might be the answer for range issues with older gear

Date of Review:  Nov 1, 2003
The Bottom Line: The Linksys WRT54G is a reliable and simple to install router that offers improved range and performance over older examples of the company's wireless products.
Review: First, it is probably appropriate that I fill you in on my home networking history. About the same time as my first cable modem arrived in the mail, I decided that I wanted to install a wireless net in the house. Our typical configuration changes...

Brilliant !

Date of Review:  Mar 2, 2004
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend the WRT54G. It's quick and painless to set up and works well beyond my expectations.
Review: After a hideous experience with Microsoft's MN-820 (review: What a piece of Junk) I was looking forward to a pleasant experience with the Linksys WRT54G.

My entire set-up time was 1 1/2 minutes. I opened the package and plugged the 2...

Flying free without cables is a good thing

Date of Review:  Jun 12, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you hate wires, go wireless. This unit will do fine.
Review: Ok, lets talk about the good things:

1. Wireless -- I think more than anything, the great thing about wireless is the, er, well, lack of wires. I have a home that would be impossible to wire without destroying, drilling and...

Decent first Wireless router

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: This is a decent beginners wireless router, but flimsy construction of the unit prevents a recommendation.
Review: The WRT54G is my first foray into the world of wireless internet in my home. I purchased this from a friend who bought it, but realized that it didn't have what he wanted, so he offered it to me for half what he paid for it. I decided to jump at...

Tortured for over a year

Date of Review:  May 21, 2005
The Bottom Line: Look into other options first.
Review: This is the second broadband router from Linksys my girlfriend has had. In both cases we were lured by rebates from Best Buy.

The first was a wireless-B and always had connection issues. We spent too much time with numerous calls to...

apartments-GOOD houses-BAD

Date of Review:  Aug 10, 2004
The Bottom Line: DON'T RECOMMEND. Performance is outright poor, prices of 108mbps units render normal 54g obsolete; you can get more power at equal or lesser cost. Buy something other than wrt54g.
Review: Works as good as any 54g wireless router would at short distances, but practically useless beyond 2 walls.
Setup is easy - that said, ALL wireless routers are easily installed if you follow the directions and make sure your windows is fully...

Solid reasonably priced router

Date of Review:  Jan 19, 2005
The Bottom Line: For the basic home user, and even the basic home office user this is a great product. And the 24/7 tech support is very useful.
Review: After fiddling for too long with ethernet cables around my house, I realized that wireless products were much less expensive than I had originally though.

And I was right. A visit to my local Best Buy, I found that there were many...

Solid Router for a Reasonable Price

Date of Review:  Nov 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this item, it is a solid performer for a reasonable price.
Review: I recently purchased the WRT54GS Wireless Router from Linksys and I have to admit I am rather pleased. Gone are the days of searching for MAC addresses and fumbling through the router's IP address. The WRT54GS offers speedboost technology, which...

Linksys makes it go!

Date of Review:  Dec 14, 2006
The Bottom Line: For those who don't like to deal with too much installation settings, this unit is for you! Great for a secure 54MBPS connection.
Review: Having just moved here to Maine, I needed Internet access so that I could continue my business operations as well as get to my most important email. At first, I got connected to Cingular using the Blackjack. Finally, we got broadband set up just...

It needs a lot more work, Linksys!

Date of Review:  May 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: Linksys could do better, but they are not.
Review: I have been using WRT54G version 1.0 for over a year (when 802.11g was still a draft standard), and while this is a competent product, there are many bugs Linksys needs ironing out.

Setup was easy enough. Connect router to broadband modem,...
