Pros:  Ease of use, bright and clear.

Cons:  My wife will not carry it. Says it is too heavy.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I have had no faults with the non APO Televid 77 which I set up with the 40X wide angle eyepiece. The images are crisp, clear and in focus edge to edge. Even in low light conditions I have had no problems with the ID on any bird I put this scope on. Granted in low light I probably miss some color detail, but not enough to have missed seeing the bird.
The savings for me was worth the money over the APO version. I bought it because it was reccommended to me by several world class birders who were using the non APO scope.
In any case if you are going to buy anything Leica you have to be prepared to spend a lot. So buy what suits you - as for me I could not be happier with this scope.
This scope goes everywhere with me and has not given me any bother except for the usual tightening of the focus controls in extremely cold weather, which is due to the graphite, or whatever is used to lubricate the controls, thickening a bit. Here in Maine it gets to 10 degrees below with regularity.
