Product Review

Ladyhawke

Pros:  something for everyone

Cons:  nothing to speak of

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

This film must be viewed widescreen, never in pan and scan, as it loses much of it's impact. If you ever have a chance to catch it on the big screen, go, you will not be disappointed.
This is a fantasy about two cursed lovers. He (Rutger Hauer) is the human Navarr by day and a large wolf by night. She (Michelle Pfeiffer in all her alabaster beauty) is a hawk by day and the lovely Isabeau by night. They are eternally together, yet eternally apart. Neither is human at the same time and we feel for them. Into their existence stumbles the thief Phillippe the Mouse (hilariously played by Matthew Broderick). Through a series of events it is discovered that the curse can be broken. Both the cursed lovers must be seen by the Bishop of Aquila (who in a fit of rage over his unreturned love of Isabeau) placed the curse upon them as fully human at the time when it is day without night and night without day. They have no idea what this means. Navarr has plans to kill the Bishop and Phillippe must stop him until the curse can be broken.
This is a film with all the romance and action a couple could desire. Since there is something for everyone, it must be considered one of the best date movies ever made.
