Product Review

Quite, installation not easy

by   dar999 ,   Jun 15, 2007

Pros:  Quiet, ease of use, Energy Star

Cons:  Installation

The Bottom Line:  Based on limited use and installation, this appears to be a good value (HD also had a 10% off sale).

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought the unit at HD and had issues with delivery (why was I surprised..). The unit is quiet and easy to load. We like the ability to load plates on top and bottom. You do have to bend down a bit lower to get into the bottom though. The flatware holders’ bottom is allows flatware to go through, which is a problem as it prevents the door from closing (we have to load the flatware down). Cycle time is long at TWO hours, but we run late at night, so not a factor for us (maybe this is how they get the lower energy rating??).
Installation was a hassle. The water connection is in the front, but you have to buy a separate 90 degree fitting--- this is a requirement for every installation! I can’t understand why they don’t have this on every unit. You have to bend copper supply tube to the back and this is a very tight radius (i.e. you need a tube bender). The unit is deep, so you need to be careful of your cabinet depth. Leveling unit was easy with a very clever leveling device. I have spent a lot of time in Korea manufacturing various products and have a high confidence of the quality, but time will tell.
