I just love to sing and I love music of the eighties. Put this combination together and you end up with the Karaoke Revolution series of games. I recently pruchased "Karaoke Revolution 3" on line to expand my song selections. This game would not be available in stores as it is an older game but is a true treasure to have.
The great feature of this game when compared to the first karaoke Revolution game is that it introduces singing in Duets. Of course, you'll need 2 microphones to use this feature. For songs that are really designed for duets, the song is split in parts. Certain lines are sung by singer 1 and other lines are sung by singer 2 and their combined efforts yields a score. For songs not designed for duet singing, both singers sing the entire song. Apart from the Duets feature, the layout is pretty similar to the first Karaoke Revolution game. Options include:
- Quick Play
- Single Player (Showtime and Medley modes)
- Multiplayer (Medley, Arcade and Karaoke competitions)
- Duets (Duets, Sing Off and Knockout modes)
- Karaoke (1 or 2 singers)
- Training
- Extras (High scores, credits,behind-the-scenes footage of the WAVE group and cheats)
- Options (for modifying sound settings)
Like the original karaoke game, you can customize your characters to a limited extent. There are 22 characters to choose from and you can dress them in one of 2 outfits.
This game also includes medley mode that allows you to sing a round by combining your favorite songs. Of course, you cannot choose the exact part of the song you want to include, you can only select the songs to include in the medley and the system cuts and slices the songs to make a medley for you.
For those of us who love to sing, volume 3 offers a wonderful selection of songs with just 1 repeated song from the original game. Songs that attracted me to this volume include "ABC", "Against All Odds", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Flashdance....What a Feeling", "I got you Babe", "Killing me Softly", "Oops I did it Again" and "Unchained Melody".
This volume is particularly fun when competing with partners.
