Author's Review
This is a fairly expensive oven/cooktop, so expectations were pretty high. All things considered, KitchenAid did a good job meeting our expectations. As a family of five with all of the children in prime cooking age, we needed an oven that was easy to use. We weren't willing to compromise on features either. As a result, we ended up with the KitchenAid KESS907SSS with control knobs instead of the all electronic 908 model.
Truth be told, the looks were the key selling point for this line of ovens. We had to have a slide-in, wanted a smooth cooktop, stainless, and a convection oven. We narrowed it down to GE Profile and the model we purchased.
So far, it has been a joy to cook with. After adjusting the temperature calibration by 10 deg F (nice calibration feature) it produces perfect baking results following the directions on the recipes. Pre-heating is rapid and the timer starts after pre-set temperature is reached. Another nice feature is that the oven shuts off after the timer expires. No more flaming cookies for this family.
This oven has a slightly wider interior than our old model and that has been a great help when trying to fit our pans and cookie sheets side-by-side. The convection part of this oven really does a great job making the whole oven useful, not just the middle rack.
The cooktop is great and has very intuitive controls for selecting the single or dual burner sizes. The warming drawer is very useful even though we didn't really nead/want that feature. Build quality/fit/finish was very good and we are picky consumers.
Only negatives were the length of time it took for the "new" smell to burn off and the noise that comes from a fan during oven use. This fan apparently runs in conventional mode or convection mode and the high frequency noise takes some getting used to.
All-in-all the positives outweight the negatives and we are very happy with our purchase.
