Author's Review
We bought this model about four years ago when doing a kitchen remodel. After about one year, the spring mechanism that controls the door opening broke, which we did not fix, we just lived with.
After three years, the small items basket just came apart. Again we lived with it.
Just after the three year mark, the machine just broke. I called the repair service recommended, and they came out and replaced two electronic boards to the tune of $180.00 (labor), the boards would have cost over $400 if not covered. I also had to burn a vacation day waiting for the repairman. It worked for exactly two loads and promptly broke again for the same problem.
Another half day of waiting for the repairman, this time N/C except for the time off.
now six months later, the same thing.
I'm going to get rid of this piece of garbage and by the Bosch that I should have in the first place. I would never buy another Kitchen Aid product again, and told their customer service as much, for what it's worth. I tried to get them to make it right, but was told that they're sorry but there's nothing they could do, SORRY being the key word.
I also bought a Kitchen Aid range and over the stove microwave at the same time. The micro is OK but the range is a marginal performer.
