If ever I have written an epinion about a product I like, Jenn-Air is right up there on top of the list! Anyone with a family that has to do a lot of quick meals to cook and please fussy eaters, then you will want this one on your must buy list.
The Jenn-Air 19in. Expressions CV4100 Electric Cooktop comes in black or white. I bought the black one because no matter how good you are at cleaning and grilling, smoke from the cooked meats will turn the best finish and I felt black would absorb some of the discoloration.
The PerimaVent down draft ventillation system is of course a must with any kind of indoor grilling. The vent is strong and draws the smoke downward which has kept my smoke alarm from going off too often. (It happens occasionally when I have the heat turned up too high.)
I love grilling. But I don't like running back and forth from the back patio into the kitchen as I try to get the rest of the meal done. With Jenn-Air....I am right there with everything in front of me. Using a Jenn-Air you get the taste of grilled food (the smoke and grease dripping actually gives the food a very good smoked taste) I could never stomach charcoal....for some reason I couldn't digest the food saturated in charcoal dust and ashes which can't help but float upward into the food. With the Jenn-Air, this has not been a problem.
This generation of Jenn-Air has a non-stick grill grate which is better than the first Jenn-Air I owned back in the early 70's. Back then it took some elbow grease to get my stove top clean, but this feature makes it easy to clean up.
Need burgers? Frying a burger just lets it sit in its own fat and grease. Unless you flavor it with a lot of spices, it tastes pretty bland. With Jenn-Air the grease drips off of the meat and away from the food which is what gives the smoked flavor just like at some of the barbecue places.
How about hot dogs....line them up and cook for the entire crew.....on this 19in surface you can cook a couple of packages and you get a great flavor not to mention a real grilled look. It's better than boiling them.
Chicken, steak, pork steaks, salmon, even shish-kabob look and taste great.
This particular model is an energy saver but I can't tell you how much energy you will save...I do know that when you get food cooked faster and more of it at the same time, it definitely saves energy.
I highly recommend Jenn-Air because we have cooked the heck out of it and it keeps on going......It is solid, well made and it has been around long enough to have established Jenn-Air as the leading inside grill maker. I have tried the George Foreman grill machines and as much as I love George, the product doesn't come close to a Jenn-Air....there isn't the taste, the juiciness in the meat, the smoked flavor or the PerimaVent which is VERY important when you grill indoors.
Years ago I had a hibachi.....I loved the little thing but I always worried about releasing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide into the air....No ventillation.......
If you like to grill but hate battling the bugs, the weather and the inconvenience of trotting back and forth to check on the food, then go for it....spend a little and get a Jenn-Air.....
