Have no fear - Great Oven - Just Have a Great Installer

by   mcalello ,   Mar 29, 2007

Pros:  Efficient, Range Knobs are out of reach from our children, best oven we could find!

Cons:  Wished the oven doors locked while cooking.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

With the help of some earlier posts, we reviewed our existing 220 electric outlet and gas line prior to installation. We noted some of the mentioned difficulty with existing hook-ups and insisted on a top installer who was licensed to move the gas line if need be.

We waited a few extra days, but it was worth it. He explained that since the oven doesn't have the traditional bottom drawer, there is just a lot less wiggle room for the gas and electric connections. He did recess our 220, and actually found and eliminated a gas leak from whoever installed our old oven's gas line. Yikes! But, the oven fits snuggly right up to the wall and we are really happy we bought it.

As general advice, I would insist on licensed professionals to install anything to do with electricity or gas, since it was very obvious when under our house that all of our other gas appliances (furnace, water heater, etc.) were installed to code.....but a previous owner of our house must have had someone less qualified run a new gas line for our old oven.
