Good Control but Poor Instructions
Date of Review: Jun 19, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would not hesitate to purchase this product again and will likely do so when replacing my two fans in the den.
This unit was fairly easy to install as I did so while replacing the ceiling fan. During the first couple of weeks, almost every day, IT would decide to either change the fan speed (normally to the off position) or turn the light on all by itself. When the light turned itself on at 3 A.M., I decided I had enough. Some internet research revealed that many others had the same issues. I was ready to rip it out and return it to the store, but I thought it was worth one call to Hunter. The rep advised that the issue was due to the instructions not being clear that the 'default' remote code should be changed prior to installation. I took the ten minutes to change the code figuring it would be easier than exchanging it out. That was three months ago - not one problem since then.
This product does have some nice features which include three fan speeds and the fan switch itself still functions such that you can really find the fax speed that suites your particular needs. IT also has a continuous dimmer for the light. However, I would have preferred that the light turn on at the lowest setting such that you could turn it on in the middle of the night without burning your retinas.
Overall, I'd say this is a fine product, just like most other Hunter products I have owned over the years.
