The Bottom Line:
This product is loud, bulky and needs to be refilled alot but it does do a fine job for humidity uses.

Author's Review
I purchased this a week ago for my 2 month old who has a respitory infection. I paid $39.99 at Walgreens. When I went to buy this, I was attractive to the permanent filter, the nite-glo feature, and the bacterial protection.
It was easy to set up. Upon removing it from the box I had to simply make sure the permanent filters were standing correctly. The water reservoir is easy to fill and practically no maintenance aside from filling, which I will address later. I thought the design looked good on the box, but this is a space hog. It is very annoying because when placing it on my counter I have to work around it. It does have a nice ergonomic design, but that is significantly reduced by the amount of space it consumes.
The unit is turned on using a know that can be placed at three different settings, high, low and medium. When I plugged this thing in the very first thing I noticed was the noise level. This thing is LOUD. The instruction state that when it turning it on for the first time, and after long periods of not using it, you should run it on high for 60-90 minutes. We did that. We ran this in out dining room and had to turn the TV up in our living room because of the noise. We were really happy when we could turn the thing to low, but it really didn't make it any less loud. The instructions are also clear about not turning the unit on until the water is no longer bubbling and unplugging the unit when you aren't using it. I noticed a warning about overfilling the resorvoir causing spilling, but there is no level mark on the resorvoir and it does not say how much water you should put in. I fill it until the resorvoir starts to curve and I have had no leaks.
I like the Nite-Glo feature on the unit. It sheds just the right amount of light, illuminating the unit itself with a soft blue glo, but not making the room light up. The feature is activated by pushing the button next to the humity control, and can be used whether the unit is off or on.
The humidistat works as it should. I could not really tell when we first bought it, but after having a couple cold days and needing to turn our heat on, we can see the difference in the humidifier. We were changing the water alot, about 3 times in 24 hours, before we turned the heat on, but now we are changing it 4 or 5 times. I do wish it took more water.
It is worth mentioning that this humidifier keeps that water in such a way that it prevents water from getting stagnant from sitting. It is also worth mentioning however that it vibrates my entire counter.
