U2 Returns With A Vengeance

Date of Review:  Nov 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: While not The Joshua Tree or even Achtung Baby, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is still a great disc and a must own.
Review: Well, my friends, today is a historic day. I am writing my first review on a full length U2 album. Even more amazing is the fact that I'm a huge fan. I own every cd and plenty of singles. If fact, Under A Blood Red Sky was the first cd I ever...

U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb Will Turn Some Heads And Make Some Fans

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: Get this album; it is one of the best to be released in 2004, in my humble opinion.
Review: Let me start this review by saying I was never really a fan of U2. It was only a couple of months ago that I experienced a musical epiphany and began to grow to really love this band. So, when you read this review, please understand I'm not the...

U2 as always, the same but different: Different Sound, Exceptional Quality

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2004
The Bottom Line: Great CD, a must have.
Review: This is a CD that I have been waiting for with quite a bit of anticipation. I grew up with U2, being only 19 the band has been around longer than I have. My brothers passed down their old tapes to me and I was introduced to possibly one of the...

U2 Will be mystified - One way or another

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: Melodic and diverse tracks with a flair. Not U2's best but worthy of ownership. Some great work and some flat work on this project.
Review: Being a product of the 1960s, I grew up in an era (late 60s - early 1980s) rich in Rock & Roll that meant something and had a backbone. Most (not all) of today's Rock & Roll is void of substance and seems a bit generic.

That's not the case...

Learning To Love The Bomb

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2004
The Bottom Line: That difficult 11th album. Mostly excellent, but not perfect and it won't appeal to everyone
Review: They're back to save the world. And a grim place it has become, too. Illegal wars rage in the Middle East, a Bible-thumping cowboy is once again the leader of the western world, famine and disease sweep through Africa like an Old Testament plague,...

U2 Misses the Mark

Date of Review:  May 20, 2005
The Bottom Line: I have never failed to recommend a U2 album and I don't intend to start now. Still, this one is less good than most of their others.
Review: Prior to the release of this album, Bono claimed that The Edge was playing some truly awesome guitar. Sick of seeing his frontman meeting with "dodgy politicians," the U2 guitarist was supposedly channeling his political frustration into making...

Social Conscience And Blah - Take That To The World Bank, Bono!

Date of Review:  Jan 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: This U2 album makes a compelling argument to give Bono a break from writing and singing and send him to the World Bank for number crunching instead.
Review: Not being connected to the fan base in any meaningful way, I would imagine that the presence of so many songs from "Zooropa" on U2's second "Greatest Hits" vindicated fans of the album that was generally less commercially successful than it ought to...

The U2 Catalog Part 6: It's Time to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

Date of Review:  Sep 29, 2005
The Bottom Line: This one's a hit-miss: There are some really good songs on the disc, but be warned that there are some really bad songs as well.
Review: This is the sixth installment in my U2 series.

U2 has come a long way since forming in 1978. They had no idea back then that they would later become the world's biggest band. They received acclaim with 1983's War, again in 1987 with The...

"don't look before you laugh/ look ugly in a photograph"

Date of Review:  Dec 11, 2004
The Bottom Line: Atomic Bomb might not be U2's most technically proficient album, but it's so un-ironic and heartfelt and beautiful that an awkward lyric or two can't knock it down a peg.
Review:
I'm assuming that, mere weeks after the release of U2's latest long-player, dropping a traditional, dissecting review of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb would be fairly pointless. At the time of this writing, twenty folks----at least half of...

How to Dismantle Good Music

Date of Review:  Feb 13, 2005
Review: The cd starts out great with a song that could easily grow to be a new U2 anthem, Vertigo. But it goes down from there. The cd's main fault is that it is pretty boring. There's nothing to keep the listener interested through the whole cd. There's...
