A Classic Come Alive

In a time when movies have seemed to replace books, this is one way to entice your child to read a book. The movie stays pretty true to the book, which I like in a movie. Also, it doesn't tell the whole story, which leaves an opening for you to get your child to read by showing them parts of the book that were not in the movie. It also gives an opening for the Trilogy that follows.

Often times when you can get your child interested in a subject, you can get them to read about it. There is always room for imaginations. I think it would be a sad place in this world if there were not room for dragons and wizards. Magic takes place in a child's mind each time they pick up a book, and if a movie inspires them to do so, it is a good thing.

I also love to see a classic passed down from generation to generation. I loved The Hobbit as a child and read it to my child before she was old enough to even read. So whether it's in a book or on the screen, it is passing down something treasured. I think that the cartoon was well done and the images were consistent with the book. I would love to see this timeless classic continue to be seen and read by children ages to come.
