This printer was a nightmare! After spending 6 hours trying to get the wireless to work with my laptop, it worked for 5 minutes, then broke. First it said that the wireless was broken, then it said that there was a paper jam when I wasn't trying to print, then it just started going crazy. The screen just filled up with symbols, then shut off. Now it won't even turn on.
The worst part is that this one was a replacement for the one I purchased two weeks ago that wouldn't even turn on at all! Unfortunately it took me that long to attempt the switch from the old printer to the new HP Photosmart.
I have wasted so much time on this printer I don't even want to go back and deal with another one. The thing is very heavy and lugging it around isn't easy. But of course since I was lazy and waited 2 weeks before deciding to open the box and discover that this printer is garbage, I can't return it. My fault on that one.
I looked this printer up online and found that many people have had difficulties with setting it up and keeping it in working order. They really did make it difficult. This is definitely not a printer for someone like me, who has no idea how to deal with electronics. Even if I did know how to set it up more efficiently, the ones that I ended up with still would have broken though.
I have seen what the HP photosmart can do when in working order (at a friends) and I must say- it does produce high quality photographs. Especially with the advanced photo paper that you can buy. I bought mine because I was so impressed with my friends.
I wouldn't recommend this printer though, I'm sure that there are other printers out there that can produce high qualtiy pictures with less of a hassle.
If the next one breaks, I'm going to take it outside and go all Office Space on it with my golf clubs. Just the thought of it makes me feel a bit better.
