Works but not as Described

I bought this printer as an all in one because I wanted to have one machine that would scan, print and copy in color. The salesman at Staples was informative and assured me that it would be user friendly and cost effective in my home office.

All in all, except for the difficulties trying to set it up, I like it just fine. The scanning resolution is great for both pictures and text and OCR to Word, so I have editable text.

The software installation was not successful, as I never could get it to install the HP Solution Center (which directs everything) correctly. It says it cannot find my device and closes.

The HP Help Chat was terrific, but after two chats on two different nights, and following all of the uninstalling and installing procedures, I was still unable to install the software as it was written.

However, enough of the software installed to make the printer work, the scanner work and the copier work. I put shortcut icons in a folder on my desktop which worked fine. While you can not scan from the buttons on the printer, because you need something to scan to (and that function doesn't work), I won't use the buttons any way.
