Hannibal Bites More Than the Dust
Date of Review: Feb 15, 2001
The Bottom Line: This movie was horrible. Please find something better to do than watch it!
This movie royally sucked air. I was really excited to go see it when I heard about it. I waited in line for two hours to get tickets and seats, but for what? To see a 2 hour and 33 minute movie that could have qualified for my nap time. I honestly fell asleep in the theater because this movie has absolutely no point!
Clarisse (Moore) is reassigned to the Hannibal case and she is called to the house of Verger to receive information on Hannibals wereabouts. Verger was the only one of Hannibals victims that survived. He is now horribly disfigured and is almost on life support. Anyway, Verger decides he is going after Hannibal himself for revenge and finds a policeman in Italy, where Hannibal is staying, to follow him and help capture Hannibal. Hannibal finds the policeman out and kills him. This is the major flaw in the movie. What I have typed out in less than a minute took almost 75% of the movie time. If this part would have been cut down, I would have enjoyed this movie much better.
Hannibal comes to the U.S. to find Clarisse and he gets captured by Verger. Clarisse tries to save him, but he ends up saving her after she is shot by Verger's men. He takes her to her home and drugs her up so she can't hurt him. She eventually gets cuffs on his hands and he cuts his own hand off to get away.
So that is the movie in short. All I have to say is it was way too long, there were too many things going on to really make a good movie out of any of the little side stories, and Julianne Moore can't act herself out of a paper bag.
