Cracked Crock

This slow cooker is an excellent idea due to the locking lid for transportation and ladle that comes with it.

After approximately 10 uses with excellent results, the crock cracked on the bottom. I have had other brands of slow cookers including Rival and West Bend, but have never had a crock crack, even with extensive use.

Upon calling the Customer Service number at Hamilton Beach and explaining the crack in the crock that had hardly been used, they insisted that the crock was not under the 1 year warranty. The published warranty excludes only GLASS lids and parts, but does cover defects. I was offered a parts list and could purchase a replacement crock for $21.33. They, however, would not ensure that the new crock would not crack.

Not satisfied with their answer, I emailed Hamilton Beach twice without any response.

Is the fact that this slow cooker is made in China the reason they are not standing by their product?
