Author's Review
(Also my first crockpot)
When I first got married, I cooked microwave pizzas. It only took a few years, and now I am cooking 'real' dinners like a pro. So the time came for me to buy my very own crockpot that I could make pot roast, stew, chili, and many other entirely from scratch meals in.
I bought this crockpot because it was the right size, and it was definitely the right price. I loved that it included a 'bag' in case I was bringing something I made in the crockpot out to a family picnic or a social get together. I can't review this bag yet, because the next get together is still months away. However I use the crockpot a minimum of once a week, and I absolutely love it.
It is very stylish, and easy to clean. The trick is this: if you are cooking a sauce (or anything that sticks onto the crockpot)... fill it with water and then let it cook on high for an hour or so. The 'stains' boil right off!
I could not tell you if it would fit into a dishwasher, because I don't own one... but it is large enough to make a batch of chili that would feed well over 10 people. I have made chili, pasta sauce, and roast to feed a party and it has only been half full.
The settings are High, Low, Warm, and Off. That is all you need. If you want to cook something 'fast' the high setting for 4 hours, but I recommend using your slow cooker properly and cooking slowly. You can still use the high setting at first if you are cooking a roast, but the low and warm settings slowly cook your food for about 8 hours...
Owning a crockpot will inspire you to cook more homemade meals, and you don't need to sink hundreds into a crockpot. This is all you need!
