Our Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System really takes us away
Date of Review: Jan 9, 2008
The Bottom Line: Built to last for comfort for both Baby and Parents. Graco Tour Deluxe Travel System comes in a variety of choices in seat colors and shades to chose from.
When you have a new addition to your family, and you love the outdoors as we do, one of the main necessities is a well designed stroller. Or better known as a Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System.
One of the first major purchases my daughter and son-in-law had made just prior to Brooklynn's arrival in July was a Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System. They were looking for comfort and durability.
She went on line and researched all the options on car seats and strollers seeing its been years since she had to purchase one. Finally, she had found one that peeked her interest a stroller/car seat combo on line at BabiesRUs.com.
On one of their visits to our local BabiesRUs store they decided to take a good look at the Graco strollers and fell in love with this model. They purchased it that day and brought it home. The Style she chose was the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System (Kendall). She liked the gray, green and light blue colors in the seat pattern.
What sold them was the features the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System offered: The Stroller has a sturdy aluminum-welded frame that came with a SafeSeat infant car seat that has a 5-point front-adjust harness, an adjustable stay-in-car base.
The Biggest selling point for my daughter was the metal lever on the back of the stroller that reclined the seat. She said all the other models she looked at had a flimsy strap that adjusted the seat.
She also liked the parent organizer tray with storage compartment and cup holders. The lower-and-load storage basket has plenty of room for the baby's essentials and room to carry the things her older children want to take along.
Besides she had owned a Graco stroller for her older children that lasted through all 3 of them and held up well. As she did with all her baby gear she handed them down to friends and family when she thought her child bearing days were done.
My son-in-law checked it over thoroughly and he made the final decision to purchase this stroller/car seat combo. His concerns were more for the durability and comfort but also, the ease of use for his wife and newborn child.
One of the other features that sold them was the one hand gravity fold. This makes folding the stroller very easy to transport. He didn't want her to have to spend a lot of time or struggle to get the stroller folded and into the van. All she has to do is make sure the seat is in the upright position then push the button located on the handlebar, twist the handle and it folds, and is ready to transport.
It folds flat, so it fits nicely in the cargo area and still gives her room to set things on top, and sides whether it be blankets, football equipment or groceries. My point is it does not take up the entire trunk area of her minivan
He told me this stroller may look heavy, but in reality it only weighs around 25 + lbs. My daughter has no problem lifting this in or out of her vehicle, myself on the other hand I would struggle a little with my limitations as to what my doctor allows me to lift.
I have taken it out of the trunk on my own when no one was home, but I won't tell !
On the days when I take the kids out and use the stroller my oldest Grandson retrieves it from the trunk for me and can set it up in a matter of minutes. He is 12 and my Granddaughter is 10 they both have mastered the ease of folding and unfolding this stroller.
I admit this stroller sets up as easy as it folds. Lift the handle hear it click and its ready for baby.
Adjusting the seat position is quite easy for me to handle too. Pull the metal lever located on the back of the seat, find the position you want and release it locks into place.
There are 4 positions from upright to a recline. The seat is well padded and comes with a removable head support. When I would take her out for walks around the neighborhood, I would just recline her all the way back into the stroller seat.
It was much easier than carrying her outside in her car seat because of my limitations. I am not suppose to lift over 10 lbs. But when it comes to spending time with my Granddaughter, I bend that rule and deal with the pain afterwards. I enjoy going for walks when the weather is nice and this travel system made it possible for me to enjoy taking Brooke along. The wheels roll easily over the sidewalk, they swivel easily for turns and its very easy to push. Even for those of us with Disabilities!
One thing for sure she Loves her stroller and Loves going for walks. Brooklynn was born in July, within the first week of her birth Football and Cheerleading practices started. This Stroller was really put through the test during the first two months of her life. Having 2 Football players in the family and 1 cheerleader we had to be in different places at the same time.
Mom would set her car seat on the stroller, push the safety latches into place and off she would go. It was that easy! The car seat fits securely, there is no need to worry about it moving or slipping off the stroller.
Worry wart Grandma gave it the shake test and it didn't budge !
My daughter would stroll through the park and onto grassy areas where the boys had practice. The wheels rolled almost as easily as they do on pavement. They lock securely into place with a tap of your foot on the foot lever.
Through the games Brooke was always so comfortable in her car seat and stroller that she slept comfortably, sometimes through the entire game before she even made a peep.
Both the stroller and the car seat each has its own canopy that rotates 180 degrees to block the sun from her eyes. Using them together you can shade your baby completely from the sun's rays. The stroller 's canopy has a peek-a-boo window that zips open and closed, which gives you a decent view of your baby's face as you stroll along.
Now that winter has set in the stroller is stored neatly away in basement until spring. We had gotten a few good months of use so far. Brook is only 5 months old now so by spring we will welcome bringing the stroller back out for our outdoor activities.
The Car seat is something she uses almost on a daily basis, Brook doesn't mind being strapped in to her car seat. The straps are easy to adjust and stay in place once she has adjusted them. The 5 pt Harness system that consists of 2 shoulder straps, 2 hip straps and a crotch strap.
In the car the Graco SafeSeat can only be used as a rear facing car seat. Comes with its own canopy that rotates 180 degrees to keep the hot sun from blazing through the car windows in your baby's eyes.
The a well designed sturdy handle has a rubber grip. The handle locks into place in an upright position to carry your baby safely with one hand. It is also adjustable to fold back and lock into place to stabilize your infant seat from rocking on flat surfaces. This seat is a little heavy for myself to lift when she is in it but thats okay its her parents job to carry her outside to the car.
The seat is well padded with an Energy Absorbing Liner.
For added security this car seat base came equipped with the latch system and my daughter likes that it has an adjustment Knob on the base to adjust the seat to sit in a desired incline.
The Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System is Highly rated by parents who have selected this stroller/car seat combo, including our family. It is definitely worth the money when you consider the price of purchasing a quality car seat separately then adding a Stroller for your baby's needs.. When My daughter purchased this it was $239.99. At the time of this writing I see they now selling this model for only $209.99 at babiesRus.com .
I would recommend this to first time parents, this Graco Travel System is durable enough to give you years of use from your first child to your last..
I hope this review from an extremely satisfied customer has helped you in your research. Both myself and my daughter agreed The Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System is the way to go for your Baby's outdoor needs.
A definite 5 Star rating from this MississippiMom and Proud Grandma.
