Gilmore Girls Seventh Season

Please do not read any further if you do not want to read about any type of spoilers for this season. I will be mentioning things here and there that will be giving away information about characters and plots that occur during this season.

This show is surprisingly one of my favorite shows of all times. I have enjoyed each season (except for maybe the sixth season) so much that I have bought these seasons for friend's as birthday gifts and viewed each episode numerous times myself. I have found that this show is so well written with great characters and humorous but unfortunately this season disappoints me a bit.

I still think that this season is quirky and fast-paced and better than 99% of other television shows out there. However, when I compare this final season of the Gilmore Girls to previous seasons, I can't say that it is my favorite.

First off, I don't think that the supporting characters are utilized as well as they have been in previous seasons. Sookie's husband doesn't even make an appearance in this season until you are already several episodes in. The relationship between Lorelai and Luke is of course strained, to say the least. In fact, Lorelai decides to date Chris and spontaneously the duo decide to get married without Rory even being made aware of this fact. I never really sensed the chemistry between Lorelai and Chris so these episodes of them being together are a bit disappointing.

I also find Rory's boyfriend Logan to be extremely smug and annoying! Their chemistry seems really "off" to me this season as well. The grandparents are not featured nearly enough and more cameos are needed by Sally Struthers and Paris Gellar!

Again, this is still a great show and I was very sad to see it end. This review is just mostly due to comparisons with previous seasons (in particular one through five) which this season doesn't even compare to, in my opinion. References to pop culture remain, just not as fast and furious as seasons past. Maybe it's a good thing that there never was a season 8!
