A Handy Navigation Tool and Awesome Gadget

Date of Review:  Apr 27, 2003
The Bottom Line: For the money, I think that the Legend is an excellent choice!
Review: How Cool Is This Thing? Very Cool! Cool as Barrow, Alaska in February. No hiker, boater, traveler or "gadget-geek" should be without one.

The Legend is the mid to high-end model of the Garmin Etrex series of GPS receivers. As such, it has...

MY personal experience with the wonderful Garmin eTrex legend GPS Receiver.

Date of Review:  Mar 23, 2006
The Bottom Line: The bottom line would be if you are an outdoor enthusiast and you dont already have a GPS receiver, the Garmin eTrex legend is a great unit.
Review: My review is about the Garmin e-trex logend GPS receiver. This is classified as an input device because I can attach it to my computer and transfer data back and forth. I really like this GPS because one, it didn t cost me an arm and a log, roughly...

Great device!

Date of Review:  Apr 10, 2007
The Bottom Line: This is a good device for toying around with and using for simple running and bike trails.
Review: This is a nifty little GPS. It doesn't do much in the way of road travel, but if you want a good GPS to toy around with or map your biking routes, this is definitely the way to go.

First look:
The device is very attractive with a...

Good GPS, but didn't last,-- so I bought another (?)

Date of Review:  Aug 12, 2002
The Bottom Line: It is a great unit, but if you buy one, treat it extremely delicately.
Review: I've owned my Garmin E-Trex Legend for a year. I've used it on several road trips in unfamiliar territory, and countless hiking trips. I've always had it by my side, whether I've needed it or not. It has helped me make critical decisions in my...

Garmin E-Trex Legend

Date of Review:  Mar 28, 2003
The Bottom Line: Would recommend to any outdoor enthusiast. Is very user friendly and manufacturer support is great.
Review: Have had mine for about 2 years now and I really like it. It has a "joystick" on the face that make use a bit easier on the move. I used it at first primarily as a Military GPS while in the infantry. I was fairly accurate to the Military GPS...

Short battery life, not Mac compatible

Date of Review:  Jul 16, 2005
Review: I bought the eTrex Legend because it came with a lot of features at the great price. I've tried it in the USA, Central America, and Africa. Unfortunately the AA battery power supply and strange failure of Garmin to produce Mac compatible software...

Nice unit for outdoors...

Date of Review:  Apr 17, 2002
The Bottom Line: Small, light, great for the hiker or motorcyclist where size and weight are limiting factors. If automotive use required, there are better choices.
Review: I bought this as my first GPS unit. My father owns a StreetPilot, which is MUCH larger, but has an easier (in my mind) user interface and larger display.

The Legend is ultra-small, and because of that it's missing some of the more common...

GeoCaching and Etrex: A Great Pair

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2006
The Bottom Line: All the basic features and a data cable, inexpensive, but keeps up with the big boys.
Review: I was looking for a handheld GPSr primarily for geocaching and decided on the eTrex Legend mainly because it was packaged with a data cable.

What you get:
A serial data cable: a must if you're going to geocache. You'll need to...

Decent small GPS, good support

Date of Review:  Mar 14, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you want a small and affordable, yet full functioned GPS, this is probably the best compromise available
Review: This is a good little GPS, and anyone looking for a full functioned mapping capable GPS will probably find this unit useful. I am reasonably computer literate and find it moderately intuitive to use. My dad (who has trouble with just about anything...
