Best range I've ever owned

This is by far the best range I've ever owned. I have the white/black model. The control area, cooktop, and oven door are black and the frame (metal part) is white.

I love the cooktop. It's recessed and sealed to the frame so boil-overs and spills are contained on the surface. GE claims it will hold 5 quarts of liquid and I believe it. I've had a 12-quart stockpot boil over and not a drop of liquid made it over the edge. On my old range that would've been a disaster but not on this one.

It heats up FAST and cooks evenly. Like all glass-ceramic cooktops, you have to use cookware that's completely flat on the bottom. I had some cheap pots and pans that had warped on the bottom and they just don't heat up well on this surface, but flat-bottomed pans work great. I use Visionware, Mirro, Meyer and Bella Cuisine cookware with great results.

You have to be careful about touching or sitting things on burners that are still hot. They glow bright red when they're turned on so it's obvious they're hot, but after they're turned off it isn't so obvious and it takes a few minutes for them to completely cool down. There's an indicator in the front center of the cooktop with 4 red lights to show which burners are still hot. I have to pay extra-special attention to those indicators or risk melting my Tupperware!

The digital controls are handy and easy to use. There's 2 timers so you can set different times for cooktop and for oven. I use this feature a lot, it's nice to be able to time something cooking on the cooktop and bread in the oven at the same time.

I haven't had the slightest problem with this range. I highly recommend it.
