Well, we like many of you all read many MANY reviews online before settling on this machine. What really tipped the scales for me, besides the reviews, is I was looking to get the washer new, and the dryer from the Sears outlet store to save money. It was curious just how many GE machines are in there, but nearly none of the Frigidaires. (hint). There must have been a 100 GE washers and dryers and almost NO Frigidaires!
What I was mostly concerned about was the shaking and what-not from having an 1100 rpm machine spinning on my joisted floors. This however is not a problem whatsoever. In fact I barely notice the thing running it is so quiet! HAPPY! Note: If you want the stacking kit for this unit, you MUST get the 8000 series dryer, it comes with it.(but not with the 6000 series dryers!) Otherwise good luck trying to find a solo stacking kit. In my case, the Sears outlet had a dented, brand spanking new 8000 dryer with stacking kit for less than 500, I delivered it myself and when the washer came the Sears crew stacked them for me after installing the stacking kit and carting off the old washer AND dryer. It was very fast.
The clothes come out so dry, it feels like a waste using a dryer! And they are just as clean if not cleaner than the old washer, plus we are finding out just how much clothes you can put in, which compared to our old top loader is quite a bit! I mean a LOT of clothes. 4 pairs of Levis, 3 bath towels, shirts and a couple other items and it didn't even break a sweat! (And they were clean).
Anyways, I'm glad for all the good recommendations and reviews and happy I went with the Affinity models. Plus I get rebates, 75.00 delivery rebate from Sears, 50.00 from the Gas Company, 75.00 from the electric company, and another one I found on the Frigidaire site for 50.00. We're talking about 800 bucks out the door with delivery for huge stainless steel capacities that save a ton of money on utilities.
Can't beat it. Don't miss the top loaders one bit!
