Not exactly a category killer

I was given this car by my company three months ago. I've put 6k miles on it. I've taken it through the twisties on Highway 1, through the snow to Tahoe, and done some straight line cruising to LA on I-5. All in all, this is a perfectly adequate car, but nothing more. Storage is great both in the cabin and trunk (the trunk can fit at least two bodies). Styling is your call. Engine noise is a problem. The v-6 is smooth, but underpowered (the tradeoff being that gas mileage is great). Handling in the twisties is surprisingly confident for a car this large, but you can feel the body roll with the higher center of gravity in the extra tall cabin. The fit and finish is mediocre... and therein lies my main and only real gripe with Ford: it just feels CHEAP! Put this car interior side-by-side with a Camry or Accord, and then it hits you why this car is being slaughtered by the imports. The car is perfectly adequate in a category filled with inspiring, innovative cars. All else being equal, it is the interior that would drive me to purchase a different car in this category. I want to love American cars... I really do. But I want Ford to build something more than adequate before I will buy one. The plastic mecca and green dash lights that have defined the interior of Ford for twenty years is way past due for a makeover. And don't get me started on the stereo.
