What a MISTAKE

We bought a used 2003 Ford Windstar about one year ago. About 2 months after we bought it we had to pay $700 to fix the BRAKES. Seems there was some huge problem with them, and after a 3rd opinion we decided we'd just have to pay. Argh. But the big problem was to come. While driving down the road 2 weeks ago, it suddenly stopped running altogether. Luckily we were on a side street and not on a major highway, because it just stopped getting power and was very difficult to steer. We had it towed to a repair shop, where they told us that the transmission had gone out and it would cost us $2500 to fix it. We couldn't believe it - the TRANSMISSION went out in a THREE YEAR OLD CAR!!! They hooked it up to a computer and it seems that some heat sensor failed, causing the transmission to overheat and finally to give out completely. Since the sensor failed, the computer failed to put the car in "limp" mode and didn't trigger the "check engine" light. We contacted both Ford and the Larry H. Miller Used Car SuperMart in Sandy, UT (where we bought it to begin with) to see if they could help us with this, and neither one of them were willing to do anything (the SuperMart offered to sell us another car though - thoughtful of them). So now we are faced with the decision of whether or not to fix the transmission. If we fix it, we'll owe over $16000 on a car that is worth less than $6000 (because we were stupid and got such a horrible deal on the car in the first place). If not, we have to pay thousands of dollars on a car that is good for no more than a flower planter. Also, we had to absolutely slam the rear hatch to get it to shut properly. ******BUYER BEWARE******
