Product Review

Great rig

by   damontb ,   Feb 1, 2008

Pros:  Power, safety, visability, room, towing, room, 4x4, comfort, looks, fuel mileage considering size and abilities

Cons:  Lack of after market accessories compared to earlier models, struts, access to engine components

The Bottom Line:  I would not only recommend this to a friend, I have recommended it to my brother. I am planning on updating to a new Expedition in the next 2 yrs.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I traded in my 2000 Jeep GC limited, because I needed something w/ more room and larger tow capacity. I loved the Jeep, but I'm so much happier. The 5.4 Triton in my opinion is the best engine, period. I have had 5.4 Tritons before and either driven them into the ground ( 350k - 420k ) or involved in a multi car pile-up. The Expedition is built on the F-150 chassis, the best selling ( for a good reason ) vehicle in the US for a large number of years.
My only issue is the use of very expensive struts, and small lift kits (2-3") are almost impossible to find.
I get 19-20 mpg on highway w/ K&N cold air intake. It's not a Toyota Prius with fuel mileage, but for someone who needs extra room, 7500lb tow ability, 3 car seats, occasional 4x4, safety, visability, comfort and YES looks. You cannot beat an Expedition or Ford for that matter.
P.S. This thing handles like a mid 90's sports car. Great turn radius. This is coming from a diehard truck fan, NOT from someone who normally drives a fiat or minivan. I have driven everything from farm tractors, 18 wheelers and M1 Tanks.
