Author's Review
Are you a long time Clint Eastwood fan? Do you like the trademark hat, unshaven face with glaring, piercing eyes, complete with cigar angled to one side of his mouth? Do you like the dirty green pattened poncho and the leather shoulder bag?? Well, if you're anything like me, the answers a HELL YES!!!
'For a Few Dollars More' is Leone's second in the 'man with no name' trilogy, a sequel to the classic 'Fistfull of Dollars', and follows the story of two highly astablished bounty hunters who come into a clash as they cross paths hunting for the same head!
The 'man with no name' (Clint Eastwood of 'Fistfull of Dollars', 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', 'High Plains Drifter', 'Dirty Harry', etc etc etc), a hardened bounty hunter with no remorse and no regret for his occupation.
Colonel Mortimer (Played by Lee Van Cleef of 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', 'High Noon') is a similar man in many ways, though he's been in the bounty business for a little longer and has had more experience, and smokes his famous pipe through that evil grin of his. He stops at nothing to capture and eliminate his...how shall we say, subjects, with a vast catalogue of different weapons cleverly consealed in a pack on the side of his horse.
The two bounty hunters coinsidently come across each other whilst looking for the same man...a man who goes by the name of Indio (Gian Maria Volonte of 'Fistfull of Dollars') and who has a rather large price on his head.
Also in Indio's company are his many, big, tough crones, who also have smaller prices on their heads.
The two hunters eventually meet, and there's a long staring competition between the two, breaking out into feet stomping on clean, polished boots (gasp!), fists flying, and even testing each others gun slingin' skills by shooting each others hats off continuously.
But after many arguements, disputes and disagreements, the two form a shaky alliance, giving each other their word that they both will each receive exactly half of the entire sum. The men soon form a plan that Clint will try to join Indio's crew by bustin' one of his good pals out of prison, and the Mortimer will follow along in the shadows.
However, it ain't as easy as it sounds...there's much back stabbing and deceit along the way, and they soon find out that their best chance to get Indio and his men is at a heist that they are planning to pull at the bank of El Paso, a thouroughly guarded bank by the security standards in those days.
As the climax of the film draws near, the two hunters and Indio are caught in an all time classic three way show down (much like the final show down in 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly')
Who will be the man with the money?
Watch this classic, epic western film to find out!!!
